Meet Dr. Alexis Corbitt Washington
Dr. Alexis Corbitt Washington, DDS, is one of Washington Metro Dental’s leading general dentists, with 15 years of experience helping patients achieve their best smiles. Dr. Washington’s journey began at North Carolina State University, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in biological sciences and a master’s degree in nutrition: food sciences before attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill to earn her dental degree.
Following dental school, Dr. Washington completed a general practice residency at the Philadelphia Veterans Affairs Medical Center. This comprehensive training further fueled her passion for patient care. During her six years at the DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center, she provided dental care to homeless veterans, exemplifying her commitment to serving the community.
As a lifelong learner and educational enthusiast, Dr. Washington is an active member of the DC Dental Society, the Greater Washington Academy of Dental Studies, and serves as the chairwoman of the Robert T. Freeman Dental Society. She stays up to date with the latest dental advancements to ensure her patients receive the most comfortable, high-quality care in a relaxed environment.
Beyond dentistry, Dr. Washington is proud to capture the spirit of her roots in St. Croix, US Virgin Islands. Growing up surrounded by vibrant culture and breathtaking beaches inspired her love of snorkeling and scuba diving, hobbies she continues to explore around the world. When at home in DC, she enjoys spending time with her Cockapoo, Sheba, exploring local parks and dog-friendly wineries.
Meet Dr. Rebecca Salzman
Dr. Rebecca Salzman, DDS, brings her unique blend of art, science, and patient care to Washington Metro Dental. She has always been driven by her passion for the intersection of these fields and chose dentistry to marry her love of helping patients with the pursuit of aesthetic improvements. Dr. Salzman earned her bachelor’s degree in Biology from Claremont McKenna College before conducting malaria research at the National Institutes of Health.
She went on to earn her Doctorate in Dental Surgery from the University of Maryland Dental School and completed a general practice residency at Christiana Care Health System in Wilmington, Delaware. Dr. Salzman practiced general dentistry in Charlotte, North Carolina, for five years before returning to Washington, DC, to join Washington Metro Dental.
Dr. Salzman stays at the cutting-edge of patient care through continuing education programs, including the Kois Center and the Greater Washington Academy of Dental Studies. Her dedication to excellence ensures that patients not only receive high-quality dental care, but also enjoy a welcoming and reassuring experience.
Meet Dr. Troy Vagianelis
Dr. Troy Vagianelis, originally from Albany, New York, brings vibrant energy and a forward-thinking approach to dental care at Washington Metro Dental. Graduating Summa Cum Laude from Boston University Dental School in 2020, he completed a residency at the Washington, DC VA Medical Center, where he developed a sensitivity and skill for working with patients experiencing dental anxiety.
Dr. Troy is a true enthusiast of digital dentistry, diving into cutting-edge technology to enhance precision and esthetic outcomes in treatments like crowns and implants. He is passionate about helping patients achieve confidence in their smiles while re-envisioning what dental care can be; a positive, health-enhancing experience.
Outside of the office, Dr. Troy is a dynamic part of the community. You can often find him playing kickball, pickleball, cooking for friends, attending trivia nights, or enjoying the gym. His commitment to creating connections parallels his dedication to his patients.
